Sustainability Two-Piece Course Sequence
Smeal College of Business undergraduate students can take two of the following three courses to earn a two-piece in sustainability.
BA 441 – Strategies for Enterprise Sustainability
This course teaches students how to make the business case for sustainability and how to develop a sustainability strategy for any size company or organization. Consulting work with an outside client is a core part of the course.
MKTG 442 – Sustainable Behavior of Consumers, Firms and Societies
This course is designed to provide students with the knowledge to enhance sustainable behaviors in firms, among consumers, and in society at large. The course includes frameworks for understanding and influencing consumer response to sustainability.
SCM 448 – Building Sustainable Supply Chains
This course focuses on how to design businesses and their supply chains that are both economically and environmentally sustainable. The outcome is to provide students with a knowledge base in core areas of sustainability from a business (supply chain) perspective. These core areas include, but are not limited to: Fundamentals, Eco-efficiency, Product Stewardship, and Sustainable Strategy.
Online Graduate Certificate in Sustainability Strategy
Learn to implement sustainable business practices that drive profitability, reduce cost and risk, and build competitive advantage while managing environmental and social impact. This program can prepare you to develop a sustainability plan for any size or type of organization. It features a combination of live sessions, hands-on work with clients, and asynchronous learning that fits the lives of busy professionals.
Intercollege Sustainability Leadership Minor
The 18-credit Intercollege Sustainability Leadership Minor (SLM) provides students with flexibility to shape their sustainability learning experience. SLM has been designed for students who wish to promote environmental, social, and economic sustainability in their personal and professional lives. Administered by a university-wide faculty committee, the program provides an opportunity for students in any academic major to develop key competencies that will be the foundation for their growth as sustainability leaders in their civic and professional endeavors.
